The Spring issue of Oil Installer magazine reports that Danfoss have been extensively testing their fuel pumps due to the increased number of BFP pumps being returned because of seizing.
A statement from Danfoss reads "to date it has not been possible to recreate the seizing of the pump in our internal tests", suggesting the fault is not with the pumps themselves, but the quality of fuel being used in domestic installations in the UK. Without drawing any conclusions, the report strongly suggests the lack of lubrication in kerosene currently being used across the country is causing an increased number of pump seizures.
Danfoss go on to say "whilst we continue to investigate the situation to find a solution, we strongly recommend the use of lubrication additives... to avoid the risk of pump seizure". At HWOS, we have since been informed by Danfoss that they will not be supporting any manufacturer warranty on BFP pumps while there is still an apparent issue with UK kerosene. Unfortunately this means we will not be able to accept returns for seized pumps for the foreseeable future. If you have any further questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact our team on 01388 760 333.

** UPDATE ** In the wake of recent issues with fuel lubrication, we have added to our range of Oil Additives with the Exocet Kerosene Lubricity Additive. It is recommended this additive is added when performing any routine service work to maintain the system and reduce risk of breakdowns. A 1 litre bottle will treat up to 5,000l of kerosene and can be found on our Trade Store with the code "OAD-04"
